Over the three months it took me to make this record, my Facebook feed was full of posts about amazing souls exiting this plane, and more posts about the amazing new souls on their way. During that time, our community in the eastern B.C. mountains lost two special elders: Robert Borecky and Kenny Ace -- Dancing Ken -- who was known for being the first on the dance floor at all the best vibes parties, and for always being the last to leave. I called Ken the “vibe hunter” because his appearance meant that your event was the spot that night. l created a song based on an Armenian violin performance that I found haunting in its expression, juxtaposing it with a happy, celebratory beat and keys to contrast the sadness. As I do not typically use found samples in tunes meant for formal release, I re-recorded master violinist Blaine Dunaway playing the same scale and harmonic content of the original. Blaine also contributed to my Dreamtree Project release coming later in 2015.
